Apple in its recent statement to Axios says, “And we’ve updated our App Store Review Guidelines to reflect that apps encouraging or facilitating the use of these products are not permitted. As of today, these apps are no longer available to download. We take great care to curate the App Store as a trusted place for customers, particularly youth to download apps. We’re constantly evaluating apps, and consulting the latest evidence, to determine risks to user’s health and well-being”.

As per the CDC report, more than 5 million young people in the U.S. use e-cigarette, including roughly a quarter of all high school students. The CDC report strongly recommends that e-cigarette users must refrain themselves from using the vaping-related apps and devices.
According to American Heart Association, there have been 2,172 cases of severe respiratory illnesses among people who reported vaping either nicotine or cannabis products. They further say that Apple’s decision is mounting evidence that vaping is responsible for at least 42 deaths and more than 2,000 lung illness around the U.S.
Nancy Brown, the chief executive of American Heart Association in a released statement says, “We are grateful that Apple is joining with us and others on this historic day to stand against big Vape and their lies by removing all vaping apps in the App Store,”
Let me also tell you guys that the first known vaping-related death happened back in August, where the victim’s symptoms were consistent with chemical inhalation injuries.
The Final Takeaway!
Guys, the major step which apple has taken is good for people and society because by taking e-cigarette related apps off the App store, Apple will help reduce youth exposure to e-cigarette marketing and discourage youth use of these products. Apple also says that all 181 vaping-related apps now have been removed from the app store but people who have already downloaded the app will continue using them.
