Phew 44 websites in all, offers a selection of the UK government information and services across the board; if the website is designed well or can be used is a debate in itself. Maybe you can decide?
Following the report of the National Audit Office, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) published Digital Marketing Company in Stafford a critical review of progress in improving the practice of government internet in his report to the 16th session of 2007/08.
One issue PAC concluded is “one-third of all government web sites is not in accordance with the government’s own user accessibility standards and all must meet the standards required in 2011.” Rather contradictory but it is important when some government sites receive an average of more than 8 million unique users per month.
Based on the satisfaction survey conducted by COI on the ‘quality of the central government website’ net satisfaction rating in the visitors almost 80%; ease of use as low as 1%, the design and the accuracy of the content below 70% and almost a third do not have a search tool.
